| Tomorrow – ABARE's Regional OUTLOOK conference in Tailem Bend |

| With a diverse range of speakers and perspectives, ABARE's Tailem Bend Regional OUTLOOK conference will explore the global commodity overview, OUTLOOK for farm performance, weather and climate trends, resource management, water security issues in South Australia, exporting and value adding in the region, across four sessions and 12 speakers. The Tailem Bend Regional OUTLOOK conference, on Wednesday 19 September, is a valuable forum to access market assessments and forecasts for a range of agricultural industries, with local and ABARE speakers presenting on these issues. In the opening session ABARE Chief Commodity Analyst Dr Terry Sheales will deliver the global commodity overview, and NAB"s Rod Fraser will explore on-farm risk management. Delegates at session two – opportunities and challenges in agriculture – will hear from Caroline Gunning-Trant, ABARE on the OUTLOOK and farm performance; Garry Hansen from Hansen Farms on maintaining profitability in a changing operating environment; and concluding with Don Ruggiero, Swanport Harvest on meeting market demand and building the brand. Session three focuses on resource management and climate change, with the Bureau of Meteorology"s Darren Ray on drivers of weather and climate trends; Traci Griffin from the Department of Primary Industries Vic on climate change implications for farming systems; then Paul Harvey, Department of Water, Land & Biodiversity Conservation SA exploring water security issues for South Australia. The conference concludes with session four, looking at exporting and value adding in the region. Speakers include Ron Cullen, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry on creating opportunities in a competitive global market; Ted and Janette Ridgway, Kesteven on farming, families and a floral diversion and concluding with Balco"s Rob Lawson on making the most of opportunities in the hay market. Conference registration is $77, including conference admission, copies of available speakers' papers, lunch and morning and afternoon tea. Registration for media is complimentary.
