Mariann
Fischer Boel has been a Member of the European Commission since
November 2004. She was previously Danish Minister for Food,
Agriculture and Fisheries, and before that chaired the Danish Parliament's
Fiscal Affairs Committee, the Trade and Industry Committee and the
Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Committee. She served on the Liberal
Party's General Council and the Management Committee of the Parliamentary
Liberal Party, and was a Member of Parliament for the Funen County
Constituency.
As European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development,
Mariann Fischer Boel is EU's chief agricultural negotiator in charge
of the negotiations related to the Doha Development Agenda.
During her mandate, Commissioner Fischer Boel will complete the
overall 2003/2004 reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP),
making EU agriculture more market-oriented, more trade related and
more environmentally responsible.
