| Outlook 2008 welcomed 70 journalists who heard from the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as he made the first prime ministerial address to an Outlook conference.
Journalists and delegates also heard from Tony Burke, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, when he opened day two of the conference. Journalists registered for Outlook 2009 can use the onsite Media Centre and access work stations, phone lines, an interview room, copies of speakers’ papers and live feeds from the keynote sessions in the Royal Theatre. The Media Centre opens at 8.00am on Tuesday 3 March for the duration of the conference. Media Centre staff, including ABARE Media, Marketing and Events Manager, Maree Finnegan, will be available to assist in interview coordination for conference speakers and accessing information. Registration is complimentary, however charges for catering and the conference dinner do apply. Pre-conference registration is required. Registered media receive a delegate satchel, including the March issue of Australian Commodities and access to all sessions.

Outlook 2009 will explore the issues critical to Australia’s farming future. It is at the forefront of informed debate on agriculture, trade, natural resources, farm performance, climate change and other significant issues. More than 600 delegates and 70 media will gather in Canberra to hear from a range of speakers across 21 sessions, where the major commodity sessions attract substantial media interest and coverage. Delegates are drawn from the farm sector, business community, finance sector, federal, state and regional government, industry associations and other organisations. A partnership opportunity for Outlook 2009 offers a unique and tailored approach to reach these audiences. Opportunities include the plenary session partnership for the economic overview and other session partnerships as well as individually tailored options.
